Nanoparticle-on-mirror pairs: building blocks for remote spectroscopies

چکیده
Abstract Surface-enhanced spectroscopies, such as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), fluorescence (SEF), circular dichroism, etc., are powerful tools for investigating nano-entities with high sensitivities. Owing to the giant local electric field confined in a plasmonic nanogap, nanogap-enhanced spectroscopies could detect samples ultralow concentrations, even down single-molecule level SERS and SEF. This great ability analytes concentrations provides opportunities early diagnosis monitoring modern biomedicine. However, laser excitations would inevitably bring about unwanted disruptive background perturbations, heating, consequent geometry reshaping biological analyte damages. Remote avoiding direct exposure can be treated remarkable solutions. Here, we combined nanoparticle-on-mirror (NPoM) family philosophy of remote spectroscopy construct so-called “NPoM pairs” structures. They consist two identical NPoMs matched resonances yet separate functions either receiving or transmitting antennas. A figure merit evaluating was put forward, which accounts efficiencies three processes, i.e., receiving, transporting, transmitting. In addition, experimentally demonstrated performances these NPoM pairs by proof-of-principle applications on The optical access spectral information both locally remotely manifests themselves fundamental building blocks spectroscopies.

متن کاملJava Mirrors: Building Blocks for Remote Interaction
Java mirror objects are building blocks for integrating web-based with high performance applications. This paper demonstrates the utility of mirror objects for construction of remote ‘portals’ via which scientists or engineers can view the results of ongoing large-scale simulations or physical processes, and even control them, from a wide variety of remote platforms. A sample portal constructed...

Directional bonding interactions in solid-state atomic lattices dictate the unique symmetries of atomic crystals, resulting in a diverse and complex assortment of three-dimensional structures that exhibit a wide variety of material properties. Methods to create analogous nanoparticle superlattices are beginning to be realized, but the concept of anisotropy is still largely underdeveloped in mos...
متن کاملMaking silica nanoparticle-covered graphene oxide nanohybrids as general building blocks for large-area superhydrophilic coatings.
We report a facile strategy to synthesize silica nanoparticles-coated graphene oxide (GO-SiO2) nanohybrids in a water-alcohol mixture at room temperature. AFM observations revealed that silica nanoparticles with ca. 50 nm in size were densely and evenly covered on graphene oxide sheets. Due to the space layer of silica nanoparticles, micro-scale GO-SiO2 hybrid plates could be individually dispe...
